About Us
Liljana Kaci, LCSW, founded Liliana’s Practice in 2024 to address gaps in the mental health system. With experience across various settings, she recognized how many individuals, especially those with severe conditions like chronic major depression, complex PTSD, or personality disorders, often struggle in silence.
Our Mission
At our clinic, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment where you can relax, be yourself, and trust that you will be treated with genuine care, compassion, and understanding. Our clinicians prioritize continuous growth and education, ensuring they stay up-to-date with the latest research-backed therapies, offering more than just traditional talk therapy. We believe in using proven methodologies to address your unique needs.
No one is ever a hopeless case. As long as you are here, there is always hope, help, and unwavering support for your individual journey toward healing.
Meet the Team
Currently, there are three therapists available at Liliana’s Practice.

Meet Liliana
Liljana Kaci, LCSW is the owner and primary clinician. She has 14 years of experience as a therapist and has learned many modalities over the years. Liljana works with people who struggle with PTSD and chronic PTSD, as well as with depression, anxiety, a personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, and suicidal ideation. Liljana’s style is open and caring, starting with building coping skills and then delving further into seeing long term patterns, and healing old wounds that keep those unhealthy patterns in place.
Meet Elisabeth
Elisabeth Oldmixon, LMSW has years of experience as a psychotherapist, teacher and homeschooling parent. After almost 20 years in these worlds, she brings warmth, compassion, keen observation, empathy, therapeutic techniques and an ability to develop partnerships with clients so that, together, we can work towards your goals.

Our Approach
Going to therapy is a courageous step, whether it’s your first time or not. Every therapist has a unique style, and it often feels like talking with someone you trust—a key part of the process. However, the relationship with your therapist is just one factor in your progress. Here’s a quick overview of different therapy types and how they work.
Insight-Oriented Therapy
Insight-Oriented Therapy is what many picture when they think of therapy. It focuses on exploring your past and present experiences to deepen self-awareness. This approach is built on a trusting relationship with your therapist, allowing you to lower your defenses and connect with emotions you may avoid.
It is particularly effective for mood disorders.
For example, if you're frequently crying without understanding why and struggling with daily tasks, insight-oriented therapy helps you and your therapist explore the underlying causes, examine life experiences that trigger sadness, and reflect on how you express emotions and manage your behavior.
At Liliana's Practice, Insight-Oriented Therapy is primarily practiced by Elisabeth and Randi.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It helps you identify how these influence each other and teaches strategies to break unhealthy patterns.
CBT is ideal for learning coping skills and changing unhealthy or unwanted behaviors.
Example: If social settings make you anxious and you start avoiding people, CBT helps you recognize the thought ("people won’t like me"), the feeling (anxiety), and the behavior (avoiding socializing). By challenging negative thoughts and changing your behavior, your anxiety will decrease as you break the cycle.
At Liliana's Practice, Cognitive BehavioralTherapy is primarily practiced by Elisabeth and Randi.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy views our inner conflicts as different "parts" of ourselves, much like a family. These parts can cause emotional suffering or keep us stuck in unhealthy patterns. IFS helps you explore long-term trauma without becoming overwhelmed by painful emotions.
IFS is effective for mood disorders, unhealthy behaviors, and PTSD, including complex PTSD.
Example: If you're in an unhealthy relationship but feel unable to leave, IFS helps you understand the conflicting parts within you—one part may want to leave, while another fears being alone or believes you don't deserve better. By compassionately exploring these parts without judgment, you can bring them into harmony, allowing for clearer, healthier decisions.
At Liliana's Practice, Internal Family Systems Therapy is primarily practiced by Liliana.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) focuses on building coping skills to manage intense, conflicting emotions. It helps you use “wise mind” to navigate overwhelming feelings.
DBT teaches mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Example: If you have explosive arguments with your partner and say things you regret, DBT teaches communication skills to express your needs without being hurtful. You’ll also learn to manage strong emotions like anger or fear without acting on them. DBT is especially helpful if emotions or relationships feel overwhelming, offering tools to handle daily life while exploring deeper issues in therapy.
At Liliana's Practice, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is primarily practiced by Elisabeth and Randi.
Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective therapy for processing trauma. It involves recalling a traumatic experience while stimulating both sides of the brain, often through eye movement, sound, or tapping.
Developed by psychologist Francine Shapiro, EMDR helps ease the processing of painful emotions by engaging both brain hemispheres.
Example: If you have panic attacks when entering a room tied to trauma, EMDR helps you identify the negative thought ("I am not safe"), recall the triggering memory, and reprocess it using alternating brain stimulation, replacing the fear with a positive thought like "I am safe." EMDR is especially effective for PTSD and can be enhanced with IFS therapy.
At Liliana's Practice, EMDR Therapy is primarily practiced by Liliana.
